Three people have pointed out (out of the 900+ notes it now has) that he is dyslexic. My only response is this:
Most people, including myself, did not know JT was dyslexic. Not to mention, most live tweeting took place LIVE and on the spot..i don’t think anyone thought twice about posting things like “what???” when he mis-pronounced Idina’s name. I also don’t think people laughing at the incident during and after the Oscars telecast makes them bad people. I get dyslexia is a real issue. However, It was a major star, butchering another stars name on live TV in front of millions. I’m not an ableist. I don’t discriminate against disabled people. I also don’t think the post is ableist. I thought the tweets were hilarious because they are Idina’s peers, reacting to her name being butchered on live Tv in front of MILLIONS. The Broadway community is small. It’s a pretty big deal when a Broadway performer gets recognized at an award show other than the Tony’s. It’s an even bigger deal when that star’s name gets misread. Not to mention, this has gotten both Idina AND Travolta SO much publicity. All publicity is GOOD publicity.
